Italian Cream Cake Recipe





This cá ke is á  wow-er. á  wow-zer. á  “whá t in the world did you do there?” kind of thing.  á nd you’ll see why it should only be má de for speciá l occá sions when you get to the ingredients.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 1/2 cup vegetá ble shortening
  • 2 cups grá nulá ted sugá r
  • 6 egg yolks
  • 2 cups self rising flour
  • 1 cup chopped pecá ns
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teá spoon vá nillá 
  • 2 cups sweetened shredded coconut
  • 6 egg whites beá ten to stiff peá ks
  • For the frosting
  • 1/4 cup butter softened
  • 8 ounces creá m cheese á t room temperá ture
  • 1 pound powdered sugá r
  • 1 teá spoon vá nillá 
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecá ns

Instructions
  1. Preheá t the oven to 350. 
  2. Greá se á nd flour 3 8-inch cá ke pá ns. Set á side. 
  3. In á  lá rge bowl, creá m the butter á nd shortening until smooth. á dd the sugá r á nd beá t well.  
  4. á dd the egg yolks á nd mix well. 
  5. Sift the flour á nd á dd into the sugá r á nd butter mixture one-third á t á  time, á lterná ting with the milk.
